The final Las Vegas Strip casino reopened Thursday morning, but with a twist. The Caesars-owned Cromwell will only allow adults above the age of 21 to enter the casino.

The move comes just a day after the opening of Las Vegas’ first-ever “adults only” resort when Circa Resort & Casino opened downtown. Cromwell will become the first Strip casino with that type of restriction.

The property has a brand-new sportsbook and will reopen its popular restaurant, Giada, which will still be available to all age groups, according to local media. Anthony Curtis, an analyst on the Las Vegas market, told the Las Vegas ABC affiliate that Cromwell is a great fit to become this type of casino.

“I don’t know if it is necessarily a trend,” said Curtis. “I think that some of the places that can fit a certain mode are going to try and differentiate themselves a little bit. Cromwell has always been a very adult-oriented resort so it’s an easy move for them.”

While it may not be a trend, it’s likely that operators will be implementing some new and innovative ways to increase demand for the Las Vegas casino market.

A stifled tourism market stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic has led to depressed revenues, especially on the Strip. Those operators have seen a nearly 40 percent drop in gaming revenue in each of the three full months since Gov. Steve Sisolak reopened the state’s gaming market.

With Cromwell’s reopening, November will be the first month with all the Strip properties open for business. Although there are several off-strip casinos still closed, including the Rio, which has been the home of the World Series of Poker since 2006.
